Monday May 27th 2002
Breakfast at Paul's then went for very nice lunch at Powder Mill's near Battle. Then tour of Battle. Then tour of Paul's art friends - Pottery and Art in Hight St - Japanese Guy and ?, Tom's garden at Strawberry Cottage and then Tom and his Partner in The Antique Shop. Then up the hill to have tea with Billy and David and tour of their house and studio. Then went out for pub crawl, ending up at Porter's Wine Bar. FML and Paul stayed up late looking at photos of Felix!
Tuesday May 28th 2002
Breakfast at Judges in High St. Then set off for Chunnel. Got to Calais and had to change watches. Couldn't find Hertz Le Swap place where we had to switch cars. Left there at 6 pm and drove to Frankfurt. Arrived at 2 am. Very dark and no map of Frankfurt! But found hotel in the end. FML put out "Do Not Disturb" sign on door at 2:30 and fat man in swimsuit pushed his way in gabbling in foreign (Bulgarian?) He threw the sign in after shouting, and FML saying "GET OUT!" in stern voice and me screaming and calling the front desk. So shocked we had to drink 2 bottle of wine. Didn't go to sleep till 4:00 am!

Had nails done and walked around a bit. Nice day. Walked back to hotel and got ready. Set off to STÄDEL MUSEUM for Herbert's birthday party. Fantastic.

Herbert's house for brunch in garden.
then off to painting holiday.....
